Pyrethoids – Helpful or Harmful?

Synthetic Pyrethroids are the most common ingredients in household insecticides. There are billions of dollars spent each year on these man-made concoctions that do not exist in Nature.

But wait… weren’t you told that pyrethroids come from chrysanthemum flowers? Come on now, these are certainly natural as they are made with flowers! Right? Well, not so fast…

There are many varieties of Chrysanthemums. Specific plant lines within Chrysanthemums are known as pyrethrums. If grown in bulk and the petals are harvested and dried, then processed to elicit oils that can be suspended in mixtures, they form an excellent, natural pest control product.

But there is NO WAY the hundreds of millions of chrysanthemum flowers necessary to create products can be profitably grown and then processed to provide the burgeoning market of pest control products in demand today. Not reasonably possible under any circumstances.

So, the scientists came up with synthetic versions – lab-made concoctions that do not exist in Nature – that are produced cheaply, quickly and universally. These are what comprise the myriad of synthetic pyrethroids that fill the shelves in hardware and big box stores for the buying public to slather throughout their homes.

Well, come on, now – so what if they are ‘synthetic’? What harm is there?

Synthetic chemicals cannot be metabolized by human bodies. Since the ingredients are not natural, our ‘natural’ bodies do not have mechanisms to deal with these foreign entities. If we ingest, absorb or inhale a synthetic pesticide, it is inside our bodies forever. It is like plastic in the landfill – it won’t ever go away.

Think of what a pesticide does… a pesticide is to kill a pest. Synthetic pesticides are created to affect the nervous systems of bugs – either their digestion, their reproduction, their respiratory or their sensory abilities which are all necessary functions controlled by the nervous systems. Pyrethroids are neuro-toxins. Toxic to the nervous systems of pests. And these neuro-toxins don’t exist in Nature

As we ingest, absorb or inhale these neuro-toxins either through direct spraying ourselves or through the many levels of our food supply exposed to these same chemicals, what does that mean? It means they are accumulating in our bodies and we can’t expel them. We are the dumping grounds for these neuro-poisons.

The widespread use of synthetic pyrethroids is directly related to the increasing diagnoses of neurological diseases. Autism, Alzheimer’s, ADHD, as well as Parkinson’s, Cancer – need we continue? And in particular, how many more families do you know today affected by Autism than those 30 years ago?

Synthetic pyrethroids are NOT harmless or benign. They are poisons affecting our brains, our bodies and our environment.

Control bugs using products found in Nature. Not synthetic versions. And don’t be duped into the fairy tale of chrysanthemums doing the job… pyrethroids are the neuro-toxins sweetening that kool-aid you’re being fed.
